Brian Weinblatt, Ph.D., is the founder and principal of Higher Ed Consolidation Solutions (HCS), a nationally recognized consulting firm specializing in mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, partnerships, and other transformational strategies for colleges and universities. Since founding HCS in 2018, Dr. Weinblatt has advised governing boards, presidents, and senior leadership teams across the United States on institutional sustainability, strategic growth, consolidation, and change management.
Dr. Weinblatt's interest in higher education mergers began while employed at The University of Toledo during its landmark 2006 merger with the Medical University of Ohio. His doctoral dissertation examined decision-making processes during the early stages of the Toledo merger, as well as the consolidation of the University of Colorado at Denver and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Since 2009, he has written extensively on institutional mergers and affiliations and has been interviewed by regional and national media as a subject matter expert on higher education transformation.
Prior to founding HCS, Dr. Weinblatt held leadership positions in alumni relations, advancement, and development at colleges and universities in Ohio and Florida. His background in philanthropy and stakeholder engagement continues to inform his work with institutions navigating strategic change, partnerships, and long-term sustainability challenges.
Dr. Weinblatt is a frequent speaker and presenter on higher education mergers, partnerships, governance, enrollment and financial pressures, and the future of the higher education sector.
